Protect The Exterior Of Your Home From Water Damage Today

Protect your home’s exterior from serious ice and water damage.

We are in the midst of the fall season, which means it will be getting cooler and wetter.  With an excess of rain and snow coming our way, it is important that your home is in good shape, especially the exterior.  The last thing you want is for water to leak into your home and cause serious water damage.  Luckily, there are a few simple tips for protecting your home’s exterior from water damage.

Clear Your Gutters

One of the most effective ways to prevent water damage from occurring on your property is to take care of your gutters.  You want to clean your gutters a few times throughout the year, especially during the fall when the leaves are dropping. Clogged gutters can lead to standing water which can cause water damage and mold to form.  Even worse, water can overflow out of your gutters during a storm and seep on to your siding and foundation causing serious damage. Make sure that your downspout is directing water at least five feet or more from your home’s foundation.

Check Your Roof

When it comes to protecting your home from water damage, make sure you are inspecting your roof.  You want to inspect the structure for any damage such as missing shingle or leakage. If you notice any leak in your roof, contact the professionals at Phil Dibello Family Roofing immediately.  You also want to ensure that trim any branches that are hanging over or near your roof to prevent them damaging the structure, which can lead to water damage.

Seal Windows and Doors

Doors and windows are entrances to a home, so you want to ensure that water can not seep through once they are closed.  Make sure you are sealing any leaks with caulking or weatherstripping. The last thing you want is for water to seep through your windows causing mold to form.
